Background
Kim Jong-un is a North Korean politician who has been supreme leader since 2011. He is the son of former leader Kim Jong-il and the grandson of founding leader Kim Il-sung.
Early Life
Kim Jong-un was born in Pyongyang, North Korea, in 1983 or 1984. He attended school in Switzerland as a teenager and later studied at Kim Il-sung University in Pyongyang. After graduating, he held various positions within the North Korean government and military.
Supreme Leader
Kim Jong-un became supreme leader of North Korea upon the death of his father in 2011. Since then, he has consolidated his power within the country and pursued a policy of nuclear and missile development. He has also met with world leaders, including US President Donald Trump, in an attempt to resolve tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
